Off the Clock with Foundry House

Welcome to our Off the Clock series where we feature our workspace members and relevant industry titans who are paving the path in their industries. In this post, we’ve highlighted Foundry House, an interior design firm that has quickly grown a strong reputation due to their invaluable expertise and impressive work. A founding member at Havn Co., Foundry House also led the design for our own space and has been along with us on this journey from the very beginning.

THE 101

Foundry House is an Interior Design firm offering services that range from a furniture refresh to a fully custom new construction home design. Co-founded by Taylor Nelson and Molly Schugel, the team brings a wealth of experience to support their clients.

LET’S GET TO IT

Q: What piece of advice would you give to someone who is just getting started on their entrepreneurial journey?
A: No matter what your business is, you get out what you put into it. Be willing to put in the extra effort to allow your business to get to the place that you dreamt of it going.

Q: Why did you start your business?
A: We had both worked at different interior design firms prior to starting Foundry House but we wanted more for not only ourselves, but more importantly, our clients. Building a house or embarking on a design project is a major accomplishment and we wanted to be able to provide our clients with a top tier experience.

Q: What does success look like to you?
A: Success is being able to make a career of something you genuinely love.

Q: Tell us about a business or person that you look up to professionally, and share why.
A: Molly Kidd of Molly Kidd Studios. We admire the way that she has taken her personal life and personal style and turned into a brand. That is exactly what our intentions have been with Foundry House. We want to offer a space of inspiration in many areas beyond just interiors.

Q: Tell us about your experience building your business at Havn Co.
A: Havn Co. has been crucial to our business. We work a hybrid schedule of remote + in studio. For us in our first few years of business it didn't make sense to invest in a studio space that we would only occupy a few days a week. Having access to Havn Co. has given us everything that we need and nothing that we don't. Not to mention getting to work alongside other creative entrepreneurs has provided invaluable insight in our first years of business.

Q: Tell us about the big vision you have for your business. No strings attached, where would you take it?!
A: We dream of landing projects that combine our love of travel with our love of interior design. Projects coast to coast. Shooting for the stars, we would love to have product collaborations as well. As designers there are so many instances where we dream up the perfect product in our imagination but it isn't available. How amazing to be able to see those imaginations become reality and find them in people's homes across the world.
